Jean Philipse understands the art of adventurous living. Traveling is his way of life, fueled by a constant curiosity for new experiences. Wherever he goes, it seems that everyone is happy to see him in front of his camera. Jean has witnessed the world change. He traveled early on through the United States and spent significant time in Japan and China right after the Cultural Revolution. Philipse is always fascinated by the unfamiliar people he encounters and remains open to their stories. The result is a stunning portrayal of the many faces of this world: a celebration of vibrant diversity, showcasing cultures that are entirely different from our own. He travels to the most astonishing places on Earth, a world of contrasts filled with beautiful people full of emotions—joy and sorrow, as well as curiosity about the visitor. The photographer started traveling at a very young age and has not stopped ever since. This year, Jean will cross into his one hundred fiftieth country. Originally a graphic designer by profession, he has spent the last 15 years solely focusing on photography and writing. Philipse has made a commitment to continue until death intervenes.
